Background: Mars wanted to use their long-standing partnership with the Football Association to support the England Women’s football team at the 2019 World Cup. But more than that, they wanted to make a stand for women’s credibility in a sport where the men’s game is globally dominant

Idea: We made the world’s first statue of a female football player. A life-sized bronze of an English woman, Lily Parr, whose story would capture the interest of major news channels and generate PR. Lily Parr scored nearly 1000 career goals. She was England’s greatest ever goalscorer, regardless of gender. Even though the male authorities banned women’s football in 1921, she kept on playing. The statue was unveiled at the National Football museum in Manchester on 3rd June 2019 and is there on permanent display.
